“My darkest moment brought understanding to the power of creation,” says Walter Kocays, the Manchester-based, Stoke-born Alternative-Folk artist.

Influenced by artists such as John Martyn, Kae tempest, Stephen Fretwell and James Blake, Kocayes creates a unique sound that blends power, hynotism and melancholy. His live performances are enriched by the addition of foot percussion, violin, keys and bass, creating a deeply atmospheric experience. His lyrics often explore personal struggle, love and societal themes with unflinching honesty.

Since launching his solo project, kocays has continued to carve out his distinctive niche, performing alongside artists such as John Power (Cast & The La’s), Ben Ottewell (Gomez), James Walsh (starsailor), Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly, and Tom Hingley (Inspiral Carpets).
